β-mangostin (β-mangostin) is the main biologically active compound isolated from the husk of Garcinia mangostana L., a plant belonging to the genus Garciniaceae. Mangosteen is also known as mangosteen, mangosteen, and phoenix fruit. In Southeast Asia, the husk of mangosteen is a traditional folk medicine for treating dysentery, sprains, typhoid, ulcers, skin infections, anti-inflammation and sterilization. It has antimalarial effects against Plasmodium falciparum

Bioactive beta-Mangostin (β-Mangostin) is a xanthone compound present in Cratoxylumarborescens and has antibacterial and antimalarial activity. The MIC value of beta-Mangostin against Mycobacterium tuberculosis is 6.25 μg/mL. beta-Mangostin has in vitro antimalarial activity, with an IC50 value of 3.00 μg/mL against Plasmodium falciparum. beta-Mangostin has powerful anti-cancer activity against various cancers (such as hepatocellular carcinoma, leukemia).
